Erie, PA -- Erie Commodores FC has achieved a historic milestone, currently the No. 1 ranked team in the conference and the Nation in NPSL.
The accomplishment further solidifies Erie Commodores FC's position as one of the premier clubs in American amateur soccer and highlights the organization's continued commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
As the longest-standing member in the NPSL, Erie Commodores FC has built a legacy of stability, competitiveness, and community pride. The club's sustained success is a testament to the leadership of Owner John Melody and Head Coach Catalin Nastuta, Commodores are consistently ranked among the top teams in the country.
“Since 2009, we have been a fixture in the NPSL. During this time, we have seen many teams come and go, but the fact that Erie Commodores has been a constant over the last 18 years, it is a true testament to our owners, our sponsors, and our fans that we continue to have longevity in this league and Erie’s commitment to this level of soccer. We thank everyone involved in the club since its inception to get the club where it is today,” says Melody.
Melody states, “What I really like about the NPSL is that it is membership-driven and all teams have a say in how the league is run. I look forward to being a part of the Erie Commodores organization and the NPSL for years to come.”
Under Coach Catalin Nastuta's leadership, the Commodores have established themselves as one of the most disciplined and dynamic teams in the NPSL. The club's success this season has been driven by a relentless work ethic, tactical excellence, and a roster committed to representing Erie on the National soccer stage.
"We’re very proud of what this group has accomplished so far. A 6-0-0 start and being ranked number one in both the conference and the country reflects the commitment, professionalism, and mentality of everyone involved with the club,” says Nastuta. What has impressed me most is the consistency of our performances. We create a high volume of chances every game, we score goals, and we play with confidence and purpose in possession. At the same time, our defensive organization has been outstanding. The players have fully embraced the work required on both sides of the ball, and that balance has been a major factor in our success.”
Nastuta states, “Credit also goes to coaching staff, who work tirelessly behind the scenes every day. There is complete alignment throughout the club, players, coaches, and staff are all moving in the same direction with the same goals and standards. We’ve continued with a strong culture based on togetherness, accountability, and hard work. While we’re pleased with where we are today, we know there is still a lot of work ahead, and our focus remains on continuing to improve every day.”
The No. 1 national ranking and conference-leading position mark another chapter in the storied history of Erie Commodores FC, a club that has become synonymous with winning and community engagement since joining the NPSL in 2009.
As the season progresses, Erie Commodores FC remains focused on maintaining its
momentum as it heads into the second half of the 2026 season.
